Unfortunately for us, the 4th estate has long since abandoned their mission to report the news, so it is left up to the alternative media to take up the slack.
This new segment is based on a book called "They Thought They Were Free" which was written about the average German during the Holocaust. Here is an excerpt from the book...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security . . .
This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes. And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter . . .
To live in this process is absolutely not to be able to notice it—please try to believe me—unless one has a much greater degree of political awareness, acuity, than most of us had ever had occasion to develop. Each step was so small, so inconsequential, so well explained or, on occasion, ‘regretted,’ that, unless one were detached from the whole process from the beginning, unless one understood what the whole thing was in principle, what all these ‘little measures’ that no ‘patriotic German’ could resent must some day lead to, one no more saw it developing from day to day than a farmer in his field sees the corn growing. One day it is over his head.
Every day in America, in every city, there are events happening that are leading us down the same path. I understand now how the Holocaust happened. It wasns't one event. It was several over a period of years in which, because no one stood up and resisted, the end result was 100% tryanny. I see these same things happening here, but I think, and I'll admit, I am an eternal optimist...I see people pushing back.
That's what this new segment is meant to help with. PUSH BACK and you can't push back unless you know what's going on.
Which brings me to our latest "You Thought You Were Free" post...
Julie Giles turned herself in when she learned of a warrant for her arrest, which was the result of her son having too many unexcused absences at school.
According to a Screven County School District document, after five unexcused absences occur, a letter is sent home to the child’s parent or guardian. The school will make two reasonable attempts with this notice.
“An appointment will be scheduled for the parent to meet with the attendance officer to discuss a plan for improving the child’s attendance and to prevent possible court intervention,” the document stated.
At six unexcused absences, the school district document detailed how the courts could get involved.
WTOC-TV reported that Giles’ son exceeded the acceptable number of unexcused absences by six. Three of those, his mother said, she had a doctor’s note for, but her son failed to turn it in. This, the news station reported, would suggest that Giles was served a warrant for three unexcused absences over the limit.
