FedEx flies terminally ill girl home

9/30/2015

Perhaps we could all say a prayer for this little girl...God may not be done with her yet....

Jada Harper, who turned seven on Sept. 1, has an inoperable malignant tumor in her brain and is in a coma with a ventilator doing her breathing for her. She has been at the famous cancer center in Houston since July, but her situation is now at the point not much else can be done to help her.

Friday afternoon, Jada was flown home to the Ozarks — on a gurney, attached to the machine that breathes for her. FedEx Freight paid the $11,000 bill for the special medical flight her family was unable to afford.

Jada is the daughter of Savannah and Jason Surface and has been a student at Green Forest Elementary School. The family, which includes Lyndon, 4, and Gracelyn, almost 2, lived in Oak Grove until Jada got sick this summer, and the family moved in with Jason’s family — his mother Wanda and sister Brandy Surface — in Batavia.

“Jada got diagnosed in June with a malignant brain tumor,” said the child’s grandmother, Wanda Surface. “It’s a brain-stem glioma, and it’s inoperable.”

Wanda said Jada was first treated at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

“The most important thing was radiation, so we spoke with doctors all over the United States. There was one doctor who really wanted to see her, from M. D. Anderson’s in Houston. So we took her to Anderson’s in July.”

Jada was able to travel by car at that time.

“She had chemo and radiation,” Wanda said. “The treatment was shrinking the tumor, but they only gave us 18 months. Then about three weeks ago, she seized, and it killed part of her brain. She’s been in a coma for three weeks now. They had to put her on a ventilator.”

Wanda said Jada is not able to be taken off of the ventilator.

“They say she could still wake up, but she’ll still have brain damage,” she said. “They’re only giving us three months now.”

The child’s grandmother said medical experts at M. D. Anderson’s recently gave Jada’s parents a choice: to give her further radiation, which might buy her six months — “They said she could stay here, and let her lay here and let us keep her alive for maybe six more months. Or — you could take her home and give her three months.”

Wanda said Savannah and Jason “couldn’t bear to think about her lying there in that hospital for six more months. They decided to take her home to her family, to everyone who loves her. Everybody is here.

GOP Is Overmatched The only thing we learned from the PP hearing is that these Republicans aren't serious

Chances that anyone is defunding Planned Parenthood are remote, if there’s any at all. And, yes, the base often has unrealistic expectations about what Congress can do without the presidency. But if you can’t do a better job in these skirmishes, the ones that lay the groundwork for future battles, you’re projecting ineptness. Or, in this case, you’re proving it.

If you can’t induce the CEO of Planned Parenthood to feel even slightly uncomfortable about defending videos that find her employees talking about humans as if they were commodities, you have the wrong people asking the questions. And since it’s clear that there was zero coordination and minimal preparation (repurposing some graphs from pro-life groups is hardly work) voters have no reason to believe you their concerns matter very much. The first step to not sucking this bad is acting like you do care, even if we all know you’re just engaged in theater.

Tyler Drumheller, Hillary's Personal Spymaster and Ex-CIA Clandestine Service Honcho, Was "Consultant" to CBS News During Benghazi Coverage

9/30/2015

Via Ace of Spades

So one of the people in her personal "spy network" worked at CBS and helped shape coverage on Benghazi, is all.Remember that Tyler Drumheller, former clandestine service chief of Europe, who was on Hillary's (and Sydney Blumenthal's) payroll as part of The Haggard Queen's private spy network?

Well he was also a "consultant" at CBS News.

In March, an investigation by ProPublica and Gawker revealed that a "secret spy network" that was not on the State Department payroll, run by longtime Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal, was "Funneling intelligence about the crisis in Libya directly to the Secretary of States private account starting before the Benghazi attack." Now the WEEKLY STANDARD has learned that Tyler Drumheller, the former chief of the CIA's clandestine service in Europe who was working directly with Blumenthal as a member of Clintons spy network, was concurrently working as a consultant to CBS News and its venerable news program 60 Minutes.

According to WEEKLY STANDARD sources, Drumheller was active in shaping the network's Benghazi coverage. His role at the network raises questions about what went wrong with the retracted 60 Minutes report on Benghazi that aired in October 2013. Despite his former life as a high ranking CIA official, Drumheller was laden with political baggage, making him a curious choice to be consulting with a major news operation--especially so given that he was working directly with Sidney Blumenthal, whose primary occupation appears to be manipulating media coverage on behalf of the Clintons.

CBS does not deny that Drumheller was working with the network, though a CBS spokesman would only say, "Tyler Drumheller was not involved in any way on the Benghazi story."

What the f*ck kind of f*cked-up dystopian Ultra Rome are we living in?

TN: Chuck Cagle is trying to block parents and others from revealing how and what they teach children about Islam.

Common Core Cash Cow Chuck Cagle is trying to block parents and others from revealing how and what they teach Tennessee school children about Islam. You remember Chuck. RTP exposed his grotesque conflicts of interest and the moola he made representing schoolbook publisher Pearson, the TSBA and numerous individual school districts. Check out these moldy oldies:

  • http://rockytoppolitics.com/2014/03/23/part-two-the-chuck-cagle-common-core-cash-cow-conga-line/
  • http://rockytoppolitics.com/2014/03/24/part-three-the-chuck-cagle-common-core-cash-cow-conga-line/
Now Chuckles is trying to keep interested third parties from determining exactly what is being taught about Islam and how. He claims the group who asked for the record is an out-of-state group and does not have a right to ask or access such records. A transparent legal dodge if there ever was one. Uh, Chuck, last time we checked your one-time client Pearson is an out-of-state (actually out-of-country) organization. If there is nothing to hide, then what is the problem with looking at what should be public information?

The Start Of China's Unrest? Southern China City Rocked By "Massive" Bomb Explosions, At Least 6 Dead

9/30/2015

Via Zerohedge

Over the weekend when we reported that one of China's largest coal minershad laid off 100,000, or 40% of its workforce, we noted that China's hard-landing is starting to hit where it really hurts: employment, or rather the lack thereof, and the one logical consequence: "now, many migrant workers struggle to find their footing in a downshifting economy. As factories run out of money and construction projects turn idle across China, there has been a rise in the last thing Beijing wants to see: unrest."

Moments ago we may have witnessed the first direct, and deadly, manifestation of this unrest when as Xinhua reported, a series of at least 17 "massive" explosions rocked the southern Chinese city of Liuzhou earlier today, killing at least three six people and injuring more than a dozen, state media reported._

For The "Nothing Is Happening... Everything Is Awesome" Crowd

9/30/2015

Via Zerohedge
A lot of people out there expected something to happen in September that did not ultimately happen.  There were all kinds of wild theories floating around, and many of them had no basis in reality whatsoever.  But without a doubt, some very important things did happen in September.

As I warned about ahead of time, we are witnessing the most significant global financial meltdown since the end of 2008.  All of the largest stock markets in the world are crashing simultaneously, and so far the amount of wealth that has been wiped out worldwide is in excess of 5 trillion dollars.

In addition to stocks, junk bonds are also crashing, and Bank of America says that it is a “slow moving trainwreck that seems to be accelerating“.  Thanks to the commodity price crash, many of the largest commodity traders on the planet are now imploding.  I wrote about the death spiral that has gripped Glencore yesterday.  On Tuesday, the stock price of the largest commodity trader in Asia, the Noble Group, plummeted like a rock and commodity trading giant Trafigura appears to be in worse shape than either Glencore or the Noble Group.  The total collapse of any of them could easily be a bigger event than the implosion of Lehman Brothers in 2008.  So I honestly do not understand the “nothing is happening” crowd.  It takes ignorance on an almost unbelievable level to try to claim that “nothing is happening” in the financial world right now.

Within the last 60 days, we have seen some things happen that we have never seen before.

For example, did you know that we witnessed the greatest intraday stock market crash in U.S. history on August 24th?_

Tennessee Roads Need Repair, But Money Not There...you know, besides the 600 million in gas taxes that is

9/30/2015

"TDOT literally has hundreds of projects across the state. Actually about 250, that are needed projects that TDOT has committed to but are unfunded," former TDOT chief engineer Bill Moore said.

Folks showed up to hear about a problem that right now does not have a solution.

Tennessee roads are funded by money from the gas tax. But as the group heard, that is not enough.

"Our bas tax was last increased in 1989," legislative research analyst Susan Mattsoon said.

The meetings are being held to get an idea of how folks feel the problem should be handled.

For a Tuesday morning meeting with very little advance publicity, the size of the audience showed how important the issue is.

For Brenda Fuller, the idea of raising the gas tax bugs the heck out of her.

"They keep wanting to raise taxes, but they're not spending the money that they have now efficiently," Fuller said.

Some said forget all the road construction and try something different.

"Well there's a number of options we need to consider. We need to have transportation systems that serve all the people and not just the people with cars," Dennis Lynch of the Sierra Club said.

The meeting ended with not a solution in sight.

As for if there is the will for a gas tax increase out there?

"Don't think we're there yet. I think we'll talk to more citizens across the state," State Senator Jim Tracy said.

Read the rest here...

Here's the truth of the matter. SIX HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS!!!! Remember that number when someone tries to sell you that line about "but we haven't had a gas tax increase in over 20 years".

The funds that are supposed to be used to repair roads and bridges are often times being diverted to "green projects" like bike lanes, and other non-automobile related causes sometimes to the tune of 40%. The money is there to repair roads and bridges but is wasted on bureaucratic bloat and green utopian ideas of a world with more people biking than driving.

Question: If Tennessee can't fix our roads and bridges with SIX HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, what makes anybody think they can do it with more?

Wonderful Wednesdays Edition: Nurse Comforting Baby With Burn Wounds in Touching Photo About to Meet Woman She’s Become

9/30/2015

Via The Blaze

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A woman who suffered severe burns as an infant is finally getting a chance to thank the hospital nurse who cared for her, thanks to a social media posting that revealed the identity of the nurse in 38-year-old photos.

Amanda Scarpinati says she has always treasured photos of her as a baby in a young nurse’s arms. The pictures were published in Albany Medical Center’s 1977 annual report without names. The black-and-white photos shot by photographer Carl Howard have a beatific, “Madonna and Child” quality.

In this 1977 photo provided by Albany Medical Center, nurse Susan Berger cuddles infant Amanda Scarpinati, who had been severely burned by a steam vaporizer at home, in the pediatric unit at Albany Medical Center in Albany N.Y. Scarpinati kept the hospital’s annual report that published the photo and was comforted by the picture when she was bullied for her burn scars as a child. She recently used social media to learn Berger’s identity so she could thank her for her loving care. Albany Medical Center has arranged for the two women to meet on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015.

“Growing up as a child, disfigured by the burns, I was bullied and picked on, tormented,” said Scarpinati, 38, of Athens, 25 miles south of Albany. “I’d look at those pictures and talk to her, even though I didn’t know who she was. I took comfort looking at this woman who seemed so sincere caring for me.”
