Corporate Media is in decline and less trusted now than they ever. They, like Blockbuster, aren't adapting to the times. The atmosphere is ripe for a metaphorical killing. Non-traditional media, which has been filling in the void of real breaking news and covering stories the MSM refuses to, has reached a pinnacle of sorts. They have fought back against the march of fake news with a vengeance that has thwarted the schemes of the political elites, left and right. But just as the strategy for winning the Super Bowl requires more than a robust defense, winning the war of information requires a robust offense. It's time for the pivot.
It is time for the agents of the new media to pivot from fighting and slowing down the onslaught of fake news into their central role of becoming the media. Even as Big Tech censors and de-platforms non-traditional forms of media we are still holding the line. Their efforts to silence any opposition to the approved groupthink will ultimately fail and end with the irrelevance of the MSM but there are things we can be doing to aid and speed up their demise.
Winners are proactive. Losers are reactive. Holding the line is necessary but if you want to grow into something transformative you have to go on offense.
The pamphleteers during the 1700's probably never recognized the profound effect they were having on the populace at large. Most of them never got to appreciate the fact that their publications helped spread the brush fires of freedom in the hearts of men.
What they didn't know at the time is that they had made a pivot from being just another British subject to freedom fighter. An information warrior spreading the ideals of self-governance in a time when most of the printed word was controlled by very few players. If you controlled the printing press you controlled mass communications. Benjamin Franklin's Join or Die cartoons published in the Pennsylvania Gazette are just one example of this. Carpe Donktum, President Trump's favorite memester, is like the Join or Die cartoons on steroids.
Dr. Benjamin Rush wrote to General Nathaniel Greene in the middle of the American Revolution a "newspaper in the present state of affairs would be equal to at least two regiments." One tweet from a an influential Twitter account like Trump is equal to what? We don't know the equivalency but we do know he probably couldn't have won the presidency without it.
The internet has leveled the playing field in ways our founding fathers could never have dreamed of. Are the algorithms rigged against us? Yes. Are we still winning in spite of that? Yes. At least for the moment we are still winning. Whether or not we can pivot from a place of being the underdogs and holding the line into a place where we claim our rightful position of authority over dinosaur media is a question that remains to be answered.
If we have learned anything these last three years it is that the MSM are the fringe, WE are the main stream. They still operate as if their powers of gatekeeping are still around. Conservabros still operate as if access to CNN or Fox is something to shoot for. Journalists from the Never Trump side dream of working for the New York Times or the Washington Post, as if writing for those hacks somehow legitimizes them.
It's time to stop and reflect on where we were before the internet to where we are now and then on to where we want to be.
In the days before the internet Julian Assange is not able to enlighten the world with proof of Hillary's corruption, the Deep State she's a part of, or the MSM who spin to keep her there. A President Trump would be a ridiculous thought. The Covington Catholic boys lives would have been ruined, Jeffrey Epstein would never have been arrested again, John Conyers would still be in office, no one would even know what the Yellow Vests are, etc. The list is a long one but suffice it to say we the people wouldn't know about half of the corruption of Congress, the MSM, and the level of collusion between those institutions that conspire to control us. Irony of ironies.
Right now with the Blockbuster like mindset of the dinosaur media and the profound influence social media is having on current affairs, we the people are at the dawn of a new era. The paradigm has already shifted. We helped usher that in. We are in uncharted territory and this either ends well, or it doesn't. In order to do this we must PIVOT into framing the debate, setting the narrative, and making everyone else react to us.
It is time for new media to follow Trump onto the field of offense. The left, Never Trumpers, etc. always play offense and truthfully they don't play it that well. But if no one is there to oppose you, to resist you, you have essentially already won. This is why the left, who is not all that intellectual and not all that strong, tends to win. Until Trump. Trump sets the narrative, and if we want to win, we set the narrative.
You wouldn't play a football game never using the forward pass because that used to be the rules. You would lose every game.
Imagine the beginning of a day where new media sets the narrative and doesn't let up. Everyday on offense.
Ignoring corporate media while boosting each other as we march into the vacuum created by the dying corporate media.
The left coordinates, colludes, and strategizes amongst the MSM, elected officials, and corrupt bureaucracies to come up with a one size fits all narrative. There is typically a phrase they will all spew out on their many platforms, like today for instance, everyone was using political rival when describing the Biden corruption scandal regarding Ukraine. See what I did there? The left is spouting off about POTUS going after his political rival while we just reframed the debate via Biden corruption. No one trusts the MSM so why are we letting them frame the debate.
At some point WE have to stop legitimizing them.
This is the harder part because it involves some of the titans of conservatism humbling themselves to a time when they too were just getting started and trying to break into the main stream of traditional media. Rush Limbaugh broke through the MSM cabal. The Drudge Report outflanked corporate media on their own turf.
These two personalities transformed the media and the MSM has not been the same since. Now, with the advent of social media, there is a new battlefield. It's literally in your hands,if you choose to engage. If you don't believe that, as Rush Limbaugh seems to think Twitter is just the dregs of society, then you aren't aware of the toll one twitter account with one hundred followers who happened to catch the Hillary Clinton collapse on 9/11, 2016 had on society at large.
That one event, captured by a virtual nobody but spread by a whole bunch of virtual somebodies, changed the course of history. That one event which still lives in infamy on the bitter left, see Mike Cernovich's interview on 60 Minutes with Scott Pelley, demonstrates the power of new media.
The old gatekeepers are not in charge. CNN and Fox are on in the background. People tune into social media personalities with intent and passion. Has the MSM lasted this long because of cable bundles and airport contracts? No one actively seeks out a Brian Stelter or a Jake Tapper to get their take on things. On social media people actively and intentionally tune into Paul Joseph Watson's videos on current events and culture. People actively seek out videos from hip hop star and current events commentator An0maly. People actively seek out Will Chamberlain's analysis of all things related to the law. People actively read the Twitter timelines of Mike Cernovich, Jack Posobiec, and Ali Alexander to stay up to date on all the latest current events.
Social media is the Drudge Report of modern times.
The great thing about social media is the most popular accounts boost and promote other lesser accounts. You want to be a part of this information evolution? Boost those accounts below you, who are worthy, but just need attention.
The gatekeepers of dinosaur media want to retain the power to control. If the New York Times wrote a hit piece about you ten years ago you were done. Think about all of the hit pieces the MSM has written about people in new media who have lived to tell about it. Their hit pieces not only don't land, they backfire.
Imagine this: You wake up Monday and the MSM comes to your timeline to see what's going on in the world. Rush Limbaugh mentions some tweets from TechnoFog and Jack Posobiec followed by a critique of Paul Joseph Watson's latest brilliant video and ending with an interesting analysis of Michael Malice and his latest book The New Right?
Imagine if the titans of conservatism didn't legitimize the fake news media ....imagine if the titans of conservatism like Rush and Ann Coulter promoted people in new media who are putting points on the board? Imagine if there was no more sharing of clips of MSNBC or CNN but instead played clips from OAN or a periscope clip from coffee with Scott Adams?
The MSM wouldn't dare mention MAGA personalities who are putting points on the board except in a negative light. What if we all united to pivot away from reacting to the MSM in decline and started recognizing boldly that we are are the MSM now and will no longer legitimize them or allow them to gain more attention from our rising power. Stop adding to their ratios. They thrive on it. They could not thrive without us so why are we keeping them on life support?
Tucker Carlson gave a speech at the Nixon Library where he said (start around 1:12:13) "the people in charge realize the free exchange of information online makes it actually impossible for them to control what people think....it's over, their hegemony over our brains is done" James O'Keefe once said "We are the journalists now because of the legacy Andrew Breitbart built"
We are the ones we've been waiting for so let's act like it. ...and honor the legacy of Andrew Breitbart who first inspired this evolution.
The paradigm has already shifted...Learn it, live it....PIVOT!
