There was an unlikely ceremony at the Shelby County Corrections Center on Tuesday.
Margaret Dobbs publicly thanked an inmate who saved her life.
"It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, what color you are, or what mistakes you made, there is still good in all of us," Dobbs said.
Tyteaddis Johnson is serving time for an aggravated burglary.
"It's like I had to come to jail to actually make something of myself," Johnson said.
On July, 21 he was assigned to a grass cutting crew near the airport at Airways Boulevard and Brooks Road. There he witnessed a three-car crash.
According to reports, a car turned west onto Brooks from Airways and crashed into Dobbs' car.
Her car then hit another vehicle and flipped over.
"I ran over there, in spite of getting myself in trouble, to help a woman in need," Johnson said.
