"In light of this incident," Earnest said at his daily briefing, "the administration has taken the step of recirculating our guidance to law enforcement agencies that are responsible for securing the border, to those agencies that represent individuals who staff the airline industry, and to medical professionals all across the country to make sure that people are aware that there is an important protocol that should be implemented if an individual presents with symptoms that are consistent with Ebola."
The statement came up in addressing the Dallas case, as the person infected there reportedly had been traveling in Africa.
"[I]t’s my understanding that the individual in Dallas who has been hospitalized with Ebola is somebody who did recently travel to the United States from West Africa," Earnest said.
"Again, according to those medical professionals, this individual was not displaying any symptoms, was not experiencing any symptoms while he was traveling. That means there is no risk to the individuals who were traveling with that person. ("no risk to the individuals who were traveling with that person" ??? FAMOUS LAST WORDS)
This last paragraph is just well...requires the willing suspension of disbelief....
"There also are screening procedures in place at our border. (YOU HAVE SERIOUSLY GOT TO BE KIDDING. Screening procedures in place??? You guys aren't even aware of 90% of the people coming across the border so how can you screen what you don't see?) So as individuals enter the country, (Across an unsecured border...go on) they are observed by Customs and Border Patrol (and sent on there merry way to hundreds of cities all across the U.S. so every one can partake in the glorious Enterovirus and all other manner of viruses just waiting to be let loose on innocent citizens, including Ebola) and others to protect the broader American public. (Oh? Let me see if I have this straight? To protect the American public, you are letting tens of thousands of illegals across the border so they can spread disease, crime, & mayhem all over the country and you are letting people in from Africa where the Ebola virus has already killed thousands and is out of control, you are bringing that mess to our shores, correction, you have already brought this mess to our shores) So there’s nothing about this case that we know so far that would indicate any weakness or any flaws in that system right now." (Right, it's called plausible deniability. "There's nothing about this case we know about SO FAR"...yeah, I'll check back with you later when the death count will be too high to ignore)
