Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney is going “full Mississippi” with claims aboutDonald Trump’s taxes. It doesn’t matter that there is no basis for the ridiculous assertions – the truth and/or facts are not what matters when you go “full Mississippi”…. it’s a strategy!
The absolute worst thing Donald Trump could do is to respond to it. Responding to the provocation is exactly what they want. Dismiss it like you would swat an annoying gnat.
Mitt Romney – “The reason that I think there’s a bombshell in there is because every time he’s asked about his taxes he dodges and delays and says, ‘Well we’re working on it,'” Romney told Fox News.
“We’re now, you know, in late February and we still haven’t seen either Donald Trump’s or Marco Rubio’s or Ted Cruz’s taxes,” he added, referring to the two US senators challenging Trump for the nomination.
“Frankly the voters have a right to see those tax returns before they decide who our nominee ought to be.”
There is a specific reason why Mitt Romney is saying this. There is also a specific reason why this specific reason, income taxes, is being used. Here’s what’s going on.
First, why Mitt Romney? The GOPe is positioning Romney to step into the 2016 presidential election either as a vulgarian alternative in a brokered convention, or as an independent alternative (third party campaign) to carry the torch of the traditional republican party – because the party cannot accept total and complete defeat.
However, in order for either approach to hold any possibility they first need to try removing Donald Trump. This “full Mississippi” approach is essentially the power-brokers within the RNC positioning an alternative.
