The Shelby County Election Commission works hard to comply with Tennessee state law that requires balanced party representation (equal number of Democrats and Republicans) at all polling places. With 219 voting sites in Shelby County, it is a significant task for the election commission to strive to reach the objective of balanced party representation each countywide election.
The election commission is stilling seeking a number of Republican election officials for the August 7, 2014 election. The election commission is particularly looking for those who are willing and able to be flexible in a polling place assignment anywhere in Shelby County.
We all rely on competent and honest officials at the polling places to have a fair election. Please consider working as an election official for the August 7 election.
These are paid positions and training will be provided about what to expect on Election Day, the laws, paperwork, voting machines and electronic poll books.
