In fact, the number of reported cases this year has more than tripled compared to last year.
In July 2013, 24 Hour Fitness in East Memphis closed the gym's spa and steam room area after three people became infected with the potentially fatal pneumonia.
So far this year in Shelby County, 33 cases of Legionnaires' disease have been reported to the health department.
That is a lot more compared to the 13 cases reported during the same time frame last year.
"Legionella" is a cause of community acquired pneumonia," Shelby County Health Officer Dr. Helen Morrow said.
