As much as I agree with you that the sermon on the mount is spiritual, I would agree with Barak Obama that no one DOD or any one else, Christian or not, would in our present condition survive its application. The sermon on the mount essentially places all sin in the category of crime which gets you into court or jail in this case the jail is eternal hell. The sermon on the mount punishes thought crimes. At the present time, with the devil & the unclean spirits free to roam about the earth, if the sermon on the mount were to be applied now, not one of us could survive that system of judgment.
