It isn’t the low-scoring games, or the incomprehensible rules, or the “oh, we’ll just guesstimate how much time we should add onto the clock” idea that makes some Americans so averse to soccer. It’s the flopping.
You know what I’m talking about.
The “Oh ouch, he lightly brushed my shoulder and now my ankle is broken!” fall to the ground. Or the “That player looked at me the wrong way and now I must fly to the ground and cling to my shins” performance.
In America, we rub some dirt on it, get back up, and keep playing.
