A survey released yesterday by the Education Week Research Center showed that many teachers across the country are also increasingly less confident about the standards, despite receiving better training to implement them.
The poll, which was conducted last fall, found that although teachers had received an increase in Common Core training from the year prior, there was nearly no change in teacher preparedness, with over half reporting either average or below-average preparedness. The numbers fell even more sharply when it came to preparedness for teaching English-language learners, students with disabilities, and at-risk students under the new standards.
