MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com)--More than 80 animal rights activists protested the Memphis Animal Services "no-photo" policy Sunday at the corner of Union Ave. and Cooper St.
The newly enforced rules state that animal rescue groups are not allowed to take the photos of strays.
In a statement, the director said photos could be construed as false advertising and lead to emotional trauma for those wanting to adopt a pet if the owner decides to reclaim it.
But protesters disagree.
"Everything that's posted about these strays is very clear that they currently are strays and an owner may reclaim but if the owner does not reclaim we want to help them get adopted," said Sylvia Cox, Save Our Shelter. "
Can we stop worrying about "hurt feelings" and start saving more animals? Hurt feelings are a small price to pay for more animal lives saved....
