Doom and gloom, it permeates our world. Every where you turn, you hear horror stories. Whether it's from the news media, alternative news media, your friends, acquaintances, etc.

We here at the Midsouth Sentinel are reserving Wednesdays for spreading only the good that is happening and make no mistake about it, there is good happening everywhere, it just doesn't make headlines.

If you have a story that is uplifting and inspiring send it in, with or without commentary and if it fits the wonderful Wednesday parameters, we will post it!

What are the parameters? Well, it has to be a wonderful story, that is all...and we will begin with this wonderful story

A loyal bull terrier refused to leave the side of his deceased owner late last week, choosing instead to endure the scorching-hot Oklahoma temperatures to stay with his master’s remains.

“The dog kept wanting to pull back to go back to where the remains of where the deceased owner was,” animal shelter officer Sheridan Lower told KFOR-TV.

The bull terrier was only a short walk from the Canadian river, but he didn’t leave, ignoring temperatures near 100 degrees to protect his deceased owner, who is thought to be a transient.

“We have found animals inside residences with owners literally lying on the body next to the body because they are family, they’re sad,” Lowery told KFOR. “Their owner is deceased. They don’t know what is going on. They don’t know how to act. They don’t know how to react.”

According to Lowery, the dog is now depressed and mourning, refusing to eat or drink.

“Head lowered, ears laid back, tail you know, between his legs,” he said.

When taken outside, the bull terrier continues to look for his owner, Lowery told KFOR.

“I took him out to go walk our facility here for a little bit and he keeps looking everywhere,”  he said. “He’s looking to his left, he’s looking to his right.”

The loyal pup was adopted Tuesday be a close relative to the deceased owner, KFOR reported. According to officials, the dog recognized the relative’s voice and happily left with them.

Dogs truly are man's best friend and we humans would be lost without them...

As a caveat, if there is breaking news, we reserve the right to bring you gloom and doom once again ...
