SOUTHAVEN, MS -(WMC) - Southaven, Mississippi police are hoping to recruit more women to join the force, and there soon may be some open positions.
Chief of Police Tom Long says only about eight out of the department's more than 100 officers are women.

I would just like to remind people of the video below. Can we stop recruiting specific groups and recruit the best man/woman for the job. And let's not lower the standards just so we can get women on the force. Equal work for equal pay means just that. If the physical standards have to be lowered for women in order for them to pass the test, how is that equal? I'm not against women being police officers or working for the fire department or any other physical job but don't lower the standards because fewer of them will make it. That endangers lives...
