Some have called him the mystery candidate or ghost candidate. That's because finding him or someone who actually knows him is quite difficult.
Samuel Watkins won the Republican primary for the Tennessee State House District 91. If that name doesn't sound familiar, that's not a surprise. He's pretty new to the political scene.
But now plenty of people are scratching their heads and wondering how he won. The head of the Republican party doesn't know him, the man who ran against him has never seen him and says he never attended a single forum or debate.
"I lost to a ghost candidate," said Orrden Williams. "None of his constituents can Google his name and find out anything. They can't Facebook him, Twitter him or anything. And he has not made it his business to reach out to them."
Local 24 News wanted to talk to Williams so we went to his home in Cooper-Young. We weren't able to get to the front door because there were chains on the fence, but there was a camera setup in a window of the house. The phonenumber listed on his campaign paperwork no longer works.
