MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Brainiacs from across the country were in MemphisWednesday to try to win a slot on one of the country’s most famous game shows .
About one hundred people were invited to take part in Jeopardy auditions in the Bluff City.
It was the fourth time for Darren Harris-Fain. He was hoping to make the cut this time.
“It’s a great game and I’d just like to play it. It would be a great experience,” said Harris-Fain
Travis Darling drove nine hours from Oklahoma to try out. He said he did it mostly for the bragging rights.
“The most exciting part about being on the show is to show my friends and family I can,” said Darling.
Would-be contestants like Darling had to complete an online test ahead of time, and once at the audition, had to take a written test.
They also got the chance to play a version of the show complete with the Jeopardy board and buzzers.
“It was really nerve-racking, but once I got into the swing of things I think it went pretty well,” said Darling.
Jeopardy picks about 400 contestants a year.
They have already started shooting the news season of shows.
