MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Time is running out if citizens plan to submit ideas to the Memphis City Council for how to handle city worker benefits and the budget.
Can a compromise be reached? That's the question on many minds as the Memphis City Council looks for public suggestions for handling city workers health and pension benefits instead of cutting benefits out of the budget.
"I don't want to see the Mayor take drastic actions like he's talking about right now, but he has to do what he has to do. I'm all for the officers. I love the Memphis officers," Memphian Jeff Farrell said.
Everyone watched as upset residents protested the city's decision to make cuts to benefits. Many wanted to see the council go back and rethink their decision even with a tight budget.
