CORDOVA, TN -(WMC) - Shelby County deputies and firefighters rescued a toddler from inside a locked Nissan Altima Saturday afternoon.
With afternoon temperatures at 86 degrees and hardly any clouds in the sky, the toddler's parents left her inside a locked car with all the windows up and the engine turned off.
Firefighters busted out a window and removed the 15-month-old girl from the hot car. She was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in stable condition.
Deputies found the child's parents, 25-year-old Brittany Zanetti and 28-year-old Matthew Brown, shopping inside the Kroger store on N. Houston Levee Road.
Both parents told deputies they knowingly left the child in the car. They were taken into custody, charged with child abuse and neglect, and held on $10,000 bonds.
