A world order of states affirming individual dignity and participatory governance (participatory governance? Where? Where is this happening now? Even in America there is an ELITE group of people who are running the show. What is this participatory governance you speak of and where is it happening?) , and cooperating internationally in accordance with agreed-upon rules, can be our hope and should be our inspiration.(I guess Henry if you subscribe to the Beatles "Imagine" there could be a Utopia here on earth) But progress toward it will need to be sustained through a series of intermediary stages. (Yeah, we know Henry....the devil is in the details...intermediary stages? Do I even want to know what those stages might be?)
For the U.S., this will require thinking on two seemingly contradictory levels (Oh Don't I know it...kind of like Bush "We have to abandon free market principles to save the free market"...you guys are full of contradictions, it's probably a good thing most people don't know what's going on...otherwise like another Henry said "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."...that was Henry Ford). The celebration of universal principles (Universal principles??? I guess I need to read your book to find out what those principles are...Our country was founded on Christian principles...remember our Declaration of Independence? How's this for a Universal principle? "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it...") needs to be paired with recognition of the reality of other regions' histories, cultures (you mean like radical Islam and ISIS,ISIL, IS or whatever the hell you are calling them now? cultures that believe women are 2nd class citizens at best and can't even go out into the world by themselves lest they tempt the animalistic urges of some seriously animalistic men? but hey it's their "culture" and if they want to cut off the heads of infidels so be it..."culture" it's just relative right? Ours is no better than there's?) and views of their security. Even as the lessons of challenging decades are examined, the affirmation of America's exceptional nature must be sustained. (What is this exceptional nature of America that you speak of and why would you want to water that down through a "New World Order" if it's so exceptional?) History offers no respite to countries that set aside their sense of identity in favor of a seemingly less arduous course. But nor does it assure success for the most elevated convictions in the absence of a comprehensive geopolitical strategy. (Speaking of contradictions...this last sentence is a doozy or one of those "seemingly contradictory levels" of thinking, and by the way "comprehensive geopolitical strategy"...why do I think this doesn't involve more freedoms for the people?)
America, we have been fooled by the elite ruling class into believing we were being governed by the smart guys. Turns out, you and I are much smarter than the so called smart guys and like Plato once said "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."
