MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Shelby County Commissioner Henri Brooks is out after an investigation found she doesn't live in the district she represents.
The county attorney began it's investigation after local Memphis questioned where Brooks lives.
Brooks claimed to live in Midtown Memphis, the investigation found she really lives in Cordova with her daughter.
The county attorney said the rules are cut and dry. Because Brooks doesn't live in the district she represents, her position is automatically vacated.
It is the latest twist in the ongoing Henri Brooks saga.
The report by the county attorney confirms Brooks doesn't live at the home on crump.
"I feel vindicated. At the end of this it is about the people of Shelby County and having fair and honest government," county commissioner Terry Roland said.
According to the report, Brooks had never had utilityconnections in her name at the Crump home. That home is owned by a man named Robert Brown, but as of last week Brooks did have cable telephone and other connections in her name at her daughters home on Red Fern Circle. And at one point, the MLGW bill as well.
The report said she has not lived in her district as far back as 2010.
"it surprises me, because if the report is true, it's been going on for so long," county commissioner Steve Mulroy said.
"She's collected a check for four years on county commission. She's cast a lot of votes that are doing to be in question," Roland said.
The investigation also points out that the owner of the home on Crump worked on Brooks campaign as a manager and worker going back ten years.
