Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) dismissed news that conservative radio host Laura Ingraham had endorsed his primary opponent Joe Carr and planned to campaign on his behalf. When asked by reporters about Ingraham’s endorsement on Capitol Hill this morning, Alexander reminded them that he was a conservative Senator (meaning I am a say anything to get elected conservative) who had been endorsed by the National Right to Life and had an 'A' rating with the National Rifle Association.(They also endorsed Thad Cochran, so what?)
“I’m putting that record on the line,”(Good thing you aren't on the line, otherwise you would fall off and at 74, that might not be pretty) Alexander said. “I spent more nights in Tennessee than I have in Washington in the last 12 years and I have great respect for the voters of Tennessee.” ( As long as they vote for me and give me money)
Alexander indicated that he was not concerned about whether he would suffer the same fate as House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor, who was defeated after Ingraham rallied supporters to his Republican challenger Dave Brat. (Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an high mind before the fall...but moving on)
“Tennesseans make up their own minds up for who to vote for, what happens in another state doesn’t make any difference to us,” he said.
When asked about immigration, Alexander admitted that immigration was a “very important concern” and that it was up to President Obama and Congress to fix it. (Lamar was for amnesty before he was against it!)
He defended his vote for the Senate immigration reform legislation passed last year that critics have denounced as amnesty.
“I voted to double border security, to end perpetual amnesty, and create a legal immigration system, and if anybody’s got a better idea, they should suggest it,” Alexander said. (Hahahaha Lamar told a funny, border security LOL, you guys forget, we are paying attention not to what you say but to what you do...like I said Lamar was for amnesty before he was against it...oh what a difference an election season can make...)
Alexander chuckled when asked to respond to accusations that he was ‘Liberal Lamar’ who frequently votes with President Obama. (only 62% of the time but whose counting? how bad could it be if a democrat were in there, 70%?)
“Tennesseans have known me a long time and they know that I’m a conservative Republican who likes to get results,” he said. (You were elected because the people of Tn did not have a choice, they have several choices this time...once in the primary and then again in the general. The old way of voting is out, you know, the OMG if we don't vote Republican we will get a democrat and now we think, how bad could that possible be?)
I will leave you with a clip from one of my favorite movies..The Princess Bride.
This clip is when Inigo comments to Fezzik about a word he keeps using...for our purposes, pretend he is talking about the word conservative...
