“As we have recently witnessed, we must do more to address and prevent youth violence in Memphis,” (WE MUST DO SOMETHING...he says...they never stop to consider that they have been doing something for decades and paying enormous amounts of money without results to show for it. So Congressman, I agree, we must do something but I would add we must do something that works) said Congressman Cohen. “This funding will go a long way towards helping our schools better respond to violence on school grounds, prevent additional instances, and keep our communities safe.” (No the funding will go along way for you elected officials to hand out this crack money to your friends. Parents aren't parenting and no amount of money is going to change that.)
Today's announcement is part of more than $2 million in Project Prevent (Project Prevent??? Prevent what? Prevent the public from finding out that you guys are nothing but a bunch of frauds who throw around money like it's free and will actually make a difference? Prevent you guys from actually having to address the crux of the problem which by the way won't be solved with money?) funding announced statewide today. The Project Prevent program funds projects that offer students: access to school-based counseling services (Which will do absolutely nothing since these same kids will go home into an environment where parents won't parent) (or referrals to community-based counseling services) for assistance in coping with trauma or anxiety (anxiety? kids aren't being loved, nurtured, disciplined because they live in homes where parents won't parent which then causes anxiety, your grant money ain't gonna fix that), school-based social and emotional supports for students to help address the effects of violence (government is not a substitute for parents who won't parent and they never will be. Did you know some public schools have "character counselors? As if the government can instill character in children. That's the job of the parents and as you know...that's the crux of the problem), conflict resolution (this is simply a crock of crap) and other school-based strategies (other money wasting strategies that government can pretend will solve problems that can't be solved by them) to prevent future violence, and a safer and improved school environment including activities to decrease the incidence of harassment, bullying, violence, gang involvement, and substance abuse. (If you think 800,000 dollars will change one iota of the problem with school violence, you can't be helped and are part of the problem...)
