Thank you for contacting my office about the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Your input is important to me (No it's not, but I knew that when I wrote the email) , and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts. (No you don't but whatever...)
Like many, I am closely reviewing the Export-Import Bank. (This is government speak for elected leaders when they don't want to come right out and say they are for something that the people are against. The Export Import Bank is nothing more than the ruling elite picking winners and losers. It is centralized planning. Think Enron. They subsidize exports and provide loans too risky for other banks to finance. We get it Senator. It's your monopoly money. We the people would rather you guys not provide funding to businesses who can't find that funding in the free market. There' s a reason they can't get the funding. Might I suggest some reading material for you...The Road to Serfdom...)The agency's charter will expire on September 30 without Congressional reauthorization (YES, all you need to do is NOTHING! PLEASE go to some inside the beltway social party that we country class would never be invited to, it's ok, we would rather you do more partying and less legislating...that way you won't get in the way of the free market), and I think we should be taking this opportunity to consider reforms that would strengthen taxpayer protections.(Governments speak for keeping the centralized planning tool in place but making it better) Enhancing loss reserves (Enhancing loss reserves??? what does that even mean???I'm quite sure I don't want to know) and instituting better oversight of the bank's management and operations are good places to start. We should also negotiate with countries around the world with the goal of ending export credit subsidies altogether ( Hahaha touche Senator...touche but if you end the subsidies, there's no need for the Ex-Im Bank you doofus but nice try) . On the other hand, exports are important to job growth and our economy, and the idea of unilaterally standing down and creating a competitive disadvantage for U.S. companies and citizens is not a good outcome either. (Ummm creating a disadvantage for U. S. companies by ending the Ex-Im Bank? No sir, it would only create a disadvantage for your crony capitalists that pay to play and that SIR IS A GOOD THING!)
Please know that as the debate over the bank's future continues, I will certainly keep your concerns in mind. Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me as I serve you in the United States Senate. (Sure thing Bailout Bob Corker...Do us all a favor..END CRONY CAPITALISM, WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN EXPORT IMPORT BANK!)
Sincerely,
Bob Corker
United States Senator
