Unfortunately for us, the 4th estate has long since abandoned their mission to report the news, so it is left up to the alternative media to take up the slack. This new segment is based on a book called "They Thought They Were Free" which was written about the average German during the Holocaust. Here is an excerpt from the book... What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security . . . This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes. And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter . . . To live in this process is absolutely not to be able to notice it—please try to believe me—unless one has a much greater degree of political awareness, acuity, than most of us had ever had occasion to develop. Each step was so small, so inconsequential, so well explained or, on occasion, ‘regretted,’ that, unless one were detached from the whole process from the beginning, unless one understood what the whole thing was in principle, what all these ‘little measures’ that no ‘patriotic German’ could resent must some day lead to, one no more saw it developing from day to day than a farmer in his field sees the corn growing. One day it is over his head. Every day in America, in every city, there are events happening that are leading us down the same path. I understand now how the Holocaust happened. It wasns't one event. It was several over a period of years in which, because no one stood up and resisted, the end result was 100% tryanny. I see these same things happening here, but I think, and I'll admit, I am an eternal optimist...I see people pushing back. That's what this new segment is meant to help with. PUSH BACK and you can't push back unless you know what's going on. Which brings me to our latest "You Thought You Were Free" post... Julie Giles turned herself in when she learned of a warrant for her arrest, which was the result of her son having too many unexcused absences at school. According to a Screven County School District document, after five unexcused absences occur, a letter is sent home to the child’s parent or guardian. The school will make two reasonable attempts with this notice. “An appointment will be scheduled for the parent to meet with the attendance officer to discuss a plan for improving the child’s attendance and to prevent possible court intervention,” the document stated. At six unexcused absences, the school district document detailed how the courts could get involved. WTOC-TV reported that Giles’ son exceeded the acceptable number of unexcused absences by six. Three of those, his mother said, she had a doctor’s note for, but her son failed to turn it in. This, the news station reported, would suggest that Giles was served a warrant for three unexcused absences over the limit. Remember the Chris McDaniel-Thad Cochran GOP primary Senate race in Mississippi last spring? One of the accusations leveled at Cochran, which ultimately was used to paint McDaniel as a terrible person in an unusual turn of events, was that as his wife sat wasting away in a Mississippi nursing home Cochran was cavorting around DC and other garden spots with Kay Webber, a longtime aide and paramour whose house in Washington Cochran was officially renting a basement apartment in (as it happens Cochran was storing some of his stuff in the basement; he was in the master bedroom with Webber every night). The subject of Cochran’s underground living arrangements and romantic ties was so juicy that some overzealous McDaniel’s supporters even made plans to infiltrate the nursing home to capture footage of the Senator’s wife, who ultimately died in December. They did so, were caught, and the crush of publicity ultimately led to the suicide of one of them while the others have faced a varying array of criminal charges. Read the rest here... This is also a good read on the GOP/WHIGS but here is an excerpt... All of a sudden, over the weekend, “silly gossip” became tying the knot. On May 23rd, Cochran married Webber. Thus, either the Cochran campaign lied last year about him having an adulterous affair with Webber, or this was one fast courtship for a guy moving and thinking slower than molasses in January. Consummated less than six months after the death of the woman Cochran had spent most of his life with. This is now the point in the story when we fire up the greatest of all country music songs: “Don’t pee on me and tell me it’s raining.” So to sum up, the GOP establishment fought harder and dirtier last year to keep an aging and largely disorientated liberal adulterer in the U.S. Senate, than they fought to get Obama out of the White House in 2012. They were more ruthless in defeating a true conservative like McDaniel, who actually represents the majority of Republicans both in Mississippi and nationwide, than they were in trying to defeat a full-blown Marxist in the White House Via National Review
Hillary Clinton recognized that her ambitions could only be realized by hitching herself to her sociopath husband. No doubt that decision had its downsides, but look where she is now. Let’s not pretend she didn’t make peace with her husband’s ways a long, long, time ago. She was happy to make $100,000 on cattle futures, after all. When the Clintons left office they created a “foundation” whose chief purpose was to give form and function to House Clinton, a modern day version of a medieval aristocracy. The House of Medici did many good things. They fed the poor. They built cathedrals. But their good works were the price of power, not the purpose of the power. The Clinton Foundation does some good things, I’m sure. But the charitable work should be seen for what it is: the cost of business. Mob bosses buy ice cream cones for poor kids. When Marlo Stanfield becomes the big man in The Wire, he’s quick to have his goons hand out money to the school kids for new clothes. No doubt the Clinton Foundation is full of well-intentioned people who are committed to making the world a better place. But the idea that the core mission of the Clinton Foundation is to do good works is absurd. The core mission of the Clinton Foundation is to expand the empire of House Clinton (and improve the lifestyle of the Lords of the Keep). This is obvious not only from their own accounting, but from everything we know about how Bill and Hillary Clinton have conducted themselves. The mere fact that Sidney Blumenthal was on the foundation’s payroll tells you all you need to know. The Gates Foundation or Oxfam would never hire Sidney Blumenthal because they have no use for a malevolent and lugubrious political mercenary. Read the rest here... Social Media, Hookup Apps Blamed For Spikes In Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Other STDs In Rhode Island5/26/2015 Really? Apps are to blame for the sexually immoral culture that's been created? I don't mean to be a puritan here but might the blame fall on the sexually loose morals of those using the app? Is it possible that the promiscuous sex that Hollywood, Feminism, progressivism, etc who all live to promote and profit from might not be such a good thing? Is it possible that making out like rabbits might not be a prudent thing to do? Nah, blame it on the app...or whatever else you can blame it on so you can sleep at night...
New cases of syphilis, gonorrhea and HIV are on the rise in Rhode Island, a trend that the state health department attributed in part to social media as people increasingly turn to their phones to arrange "casual and often anonymous sexual encounters." Better testing has also contributed to the rising number of infections, the department said. "Despite the progress we have made in reducing STDs [sexually transmitted diseases] and HIV over the years, there is more work to do," Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, director designee at the Rhode Island Department of Health, said in a release. "This trend reminds us that we cannot become complacent." From 2013 to 2014, syphilis cases rose by 79 percent, gonorrhea by 30 percent and HIV cases by nearly 33 percent, the department said. New cases of these increased faster among men who have sex with men and had a greater impact on African-Americans and Hispanics as well as on youth. Although the health department stated that the rising rates followed national trends, the most recentdata from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that from 2012 to 2013, rates of gonorrhea remained stable and rates of syphilis increased only among men. Over the same time period,HIV infections were stable as well, and from 2009 to 2013, HIV infections due to injection drugs decreased. Read the rest here... What's wrong with a little socialism? Well, let's look at Venezuela... Incarcerated Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López leaked a self-made video from a high-security military prison last night to announce a hunger strike and call on all Venezuelans to hold a “massive and peaceful” protest against the government next Saturday. “Today the immense majority of Venezuelans want change, but similar to us, the common citizen and Venezuela’s democracy are incarcerated by a corrupt elite who are only interested in remaining in power,” Lopez said into the stationary camera, offering Venezuelans their first glimpse of the jailed opposition leader since he was put behind bars 15 months ago. Wearing a white t-shirt, a five-day beard and a cross around his neck, López appealed to the Venezuelan people to not lose hope or faith in democratic change. The video was somehow smuggled out of the Ramo Verde military jail and posted last night on López’s social media accounts, which are now controlled by his wife, Lilian Tintori. Read the rest here... CHICAGO (STMW) -- Twelve people were killed and at least 43 — including a 4-year-old girl — were wounded in shootings across Chicago this Memorial Day weekend, police said.
The 4-year-old, identified by her family as Jacele Johnson, was shot about 8 p.m. Friday in the West Englewood neighborhood. She and her 17-year-old cousin Romare Wilson were inside an SUV in the 7000 block of South Justine when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to their family and Chicago Police. The girl was shot in the head and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, authorities said. She has since been upgraded to fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday morning. Read the rest here... BALTIMORE(WJZ)–It’s the deadliest month Baltimore has seen in more than 15 years. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Lt. Col. John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Expeditionary Force This is the story of how the red field poppy came to be known as an internationally recognized symbol of Remembrance. From its association with poppies flowering in the spring of 1915 on the battlefields of Belgium, France and Gallipoli this vivid red flower has become synonymous with great loss of life in war. |
