They are fighting mad over a Memphis Animal Services policy that prohibits photos of stray dogs taken to the shelter.
The shelter director just stopped allowing the photos last week.
Without those pictures, members of local animal rescue groups say more dogs will be euthanized before they even get a chance for adoption.
By law, stray dogs must be held for 72 hours before being placed for adoption or put down.The Memphis Animal Services director just stopped allowing the photos, saying stray dogs do not belong to the city before then.
“Why is that a problem? Why do you hide these animals instead of giving them at chance at new life?” Cox said. “Memphis Pets Alive plainly states when they post they are in stray, they are not yet adoptable but have potential to be adopted.”
In a statement, the shelter's director said putting photos out could be a form of false advertising and lead to emotional trauma for people wanting to adopt a dog the pet's owner could reclaim.

I am going go out on a limb here and say the I'm quite sure the people wanting to adopt a pet might be a little disappointed if the dog they wanted to adopt was reclaimed by their owner but THEY WOULD BE DEVASTATED IF THE DOG WAS EUTHANIZED BECAUSE OF SOME STUPID POLICY THAT LIMITS PICTURE TAKING WHICH THEN LIMITS GETTING THIS INFO OUT IN A TIMELY MANNER BEFORE THEIR SCHEDULED EUTHANIZATION!
