Twitter banned the account of a pro-Trump grassroots campaign with 15 state field directors along with another prominent Trump supporter, failing to reinstate the accounts on the same day that the company came under fire from the president himself for discrimination against conservatives.
The Twitter experience for conservatives has been on a negative decline for a long time but recent months have been particularly concerning. With the QFD ban which seems to mostly effect conservatives and the shadow banning in search results being revealed last week we are left to wonder what's next.
@TheAlx was a great account to follow and even though he never broke Twitter's rules his account was suspended. Twitter won't tell him why. I was suspended several months ago for 4 days for "exhibiting automated behavior". What was I doing? Well, I was tweeting and retweeting...a lot....like I do everyday. I had to email twitter several times when after four days my account was magically restored. I say magically because they never told me my account was restored or why it had been suspended in the 1st pklace when I just happened to check on it and it was back up.
I don't understand why when Twitter suspends accounts they can't tell you what specific reason it was for so you can avoid doing whatever it is in the future.
Could it be if they reveal the reasons for some of these suspensions that it would reveal an even deeper bias than we would have anticipated? Transparency seems like a no-brainer but transparency might invite deeper scrutiny from the powers that be that are noticing Twitter is censoring people on the basis of their political beliefs.
Something's gotta give....I hope Twitter will do the right thing and tell us the reasons for the suspensions on top of restoring accounts that didn't deserve to be suspended in the 1st place.
@TheAlx had over 23k followers, I only have 7k but I know this could just as easily be me or you....please share this story and tweet @TwitterSafety @TwitterGov @TwitterSupport asking them to reinstate his account. After all it's not as if he was a New York Times reporter tweeting hate towards white people. Funny how those actually tweeting hate coming from the left never seem to have their accounts suspended....We are just asking for equal treatment.
If the account below won't be banned for their hate tweets, the bar is set pretty low....no?
