She belongs to the so-called 97% of the scientists who agree on global warming she says the IPCC reports typically neglects what she calls the "uncertainty monster".
She says the "uncertainty monster is a metaphor for complex between facts and values, the unknown, scientists tending to be over competent in what they think they know without considering the known unknowns and the unknown unknowns so there's a lot of scope for people to be wrong...particularly about their future predictions."
Marijn Poels ask her why this isn't being talked about and Judith believes the pressure comes from "the policy makers, back in the late 1980's and around 1990 when the IPCC and the UN framework Convention on Climate Change were just being formulated they just wanted to focus on man-made climate change to the neglect of other processes and as a result they became too reliant on climate modules which basically don't simulate a lot of the natural processes and certainly for projections they ignore things like future solar variablitity and future volcanic eruptions and the large scale ocean circulations ......
and what we have come up with is this very narrow framing of the climate problem which ignores what may be the most important factors actually"
Judith breaks down the science of climate change in easy to understand dialogue with Marijn. This is a must watch if you want to understand both sides. She has since been ostracized for straying away from the approved groupthink on climate science. Science should be about the science but sadly, like everything else it has become about the money and if you aren't spouting off the approved talking points they will do everything they can to make sure you aren't heard.
It's not long so watch and share it. It may be the only logical discussion of climate change people ever get to hear.
